1) If you add white to blue, you get light blue.
If you add white to green, you get light green.
That works for most colours, but...
If you add white to red, you get pink.
Why isn't pink called light red? Why don't the other light colours have their own names?
2) Once the human race had discovered toast and jam, why did we bother looking for any other foodstuffs? The only way was down.
.
That is so true! Toast and jam all the way I say
ReplyDeleteThat has certainly set me thinking..........
ReplyDeleteAnd what about marmite? Better on toast than jam...... any day!

I once dated an artist who told me that light red was named pink because it was the favorite color of girls and girls have to complicate everything. :0)
ReplyDeleteJust the other day I was chopping onions and I had a very similar thought.. "Who was the first person to decided that onions were edible despite the fact that you can't eat them alone and you can't even cut them without tears?" weird...
No! Toast and cheese!
ReplyDeleteTea and toast with marmelade! What I looked forward to during each of my 3 labours!
ReplyDeleteToast and marmite for me, I'm afraid....
ReplyDeleteMaybe pink was named after the flowers pinks? Like Rose in French.
and another one ... a variation of toast and jam ...
ReplyDeleteI never had a slice of bread,
Particularly large and wide,
That did not fall upon the floor,
And Always on the buttered (or jammed?) side
i love the pink conundrum.
conundra or conundrums. apparently both are right? x
Actually for a really pink pink you need the merest touch of blue.
ReplyDeleteHoumous?
And eggs, fish etc - who first thought of cooking them?

Oddly I was talking about this yesterday - an Italian friend was wearing a pale blue jacket - the colour translates from Italian as 'baked sugar paper' - all we could come u with in English is dark sky blue !
ReplyDeleteOysters ? who thought to crack them open ? Glad they did though xx
Black and white is grey. Guess light black doesn't really work. There is only one shade of black really.
ReplyDeleteThey still needed to discover marmite... and who on earth thought that would taste nice? But they were right!
But then we wouldn't have discovered Marmite and a world without Marmite but would be a very dark place indeed....
ReplyDeleteWhite + blue surely equals azure, or have I been spending too much time looking at paint samples?
ReplyDeleteSo true! Now I'm hungry for some toast and jam. =P
