Due to the resounding success of my first vlog, and yielding to the insistent clamouring from a demanding public, I thought I'd have another go at vlogging.
The Just Vlog It challenge is run by Cafe Bebe, and Notes from Lapland, who I sometimes find snuggling up next to me in lists, as a result of our alphabetic proximity. This time round, the vlog topic was to "make you something".
My thanks go to 6-yo, as sound engineer, and to 12-yo, as proof editor, for pointing out that I sound rather rude to Americans in the introduction. I've just looked back at my last vlog, and I saw that I had to apologise for being patronising to Americans in that one. It's not intentional (or does that make it worse?)
And if I made a prediction about the result of the British general election, it was inadvertent. I don't have any inside knowledge on that subject.
No saucers? Honestly, Iota, I thought better of you...
ReplyDeleteYou can make my tea any time Iota. And have you thought of selling your vlogs to some kind of 'calm' tv channel? I feel so relaxed after watching that!
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly right. Down to a T.
ReplyDeleteNow all you need to do is to discover some way of downloading the tea so that I can drink it!
Nuts in May
Isn't it you who sneaks the occasional earl grey bag into the pot? And the whole point about putting the milk in first is that if you put it in after, it cooks as you put it into the hot tea. Yuk. Though we use blue (whole) milk here as we have that for the children, red (skimmed) for cereal as a gesture towards not getting even fatter, and can't bear the thought of having THREE sorts of milk in the fridge just to make tea taste nicer though agree that green (s/skimmed) is best.
ReplyDeleteOoh. Lovely.

I adore your accent and I approve wholeheartedly of your tea making. I have learned how to make proper tea already but it is reassuring to know that I'm right. Please teach more Americans...they need to know! ;) Love it Mrs! ;)

You forgot to ban the use of a microwave in the whole process. That's my biggest bug-bear! Brilliant though!
ReplyDeleteVery nicely done! Americans just don't seem to understand that the water must be boiling!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I put a teabag in a mug. I never burn my mouth though - by the time I've wandered off to do something while the tea's brewing and finally remember it 20 minutes later, the tea's not hot enough to burn me. It is strong enough to stand a spoon up in though ;-)
My granny always reckoned she cd tell if u hadn't warmed the tea pot 1st. And my mum will only drink tea out of a bone china cup or mug. It can be a mug, just has to be china.......
ReplyDeleteTea making & drinking is definitely an art form:o)
I'm so glad yours was the first blog I've looked at on my return from holiday. You give Delia and Nigella a real run for their money.
ReplyDeleteI love a good cup of tea made in a teapot too. My American friends are very impressed by the pot - but cannot understand why I add milk....
I just realised that I nearly always use loose tea leaves in a pot and bags for just one cup. Somehow I had assumed that's the way it's supposed to be.
ReplyDeleteMilk in first? Are you crazy?! Up until then I was with you girl....We could start a milk in first or not war!
ReplyDeleteMILK IN FIRST!! YES! I approve. 2% Organic!
ReplyDeleteAnd ugh. Tea in a mug. No no no no no. Tea in a POT.
WE ARE NOT BUILDERS! And what about the 2nd cup? Or the 3rd?
I'm glad you mentioned warming the pot because I don't think it's really proper not to warm the pot - it means a lukewarm cup of tea and then I might cry.
I think we've established a VERY IMPORTANT BOND HERE.
Hang on, I'm bringing the Digestives and coming round..
Fantastic! As a none tea drinking Brit, I have learnt something here. I was, please don't shoot me, a milk in last person. i have now seen the error of my ways. thank goodness I don't live in England, would have been locked in the tower years ago
ReplyDeleteI make loads of cups of tea, but never drink it. Next time the schoolgate mums are over I'll bring out the teapot and make sure I use boiling water.
