Iota vlogs

I bet you never thought you'd read those words. I, the most technologically unproficient, in order to form a more perfect blog, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, and generally keep up with the times, decided I'd have a go at vlogging. I've tried Twitter too, I'll have you know. Actually, joking aside, I think that is one of the benefits of blogging for me. It has kept me up to date with developments in the internet, and has forced me to get to grips with skills that I would never have otherwise bothered with.

There's a vlogging competition out at the moment, which gave me the impetus I needed (and I thought you'd forgive me if The Garage Sale had to wait). The competition is run by Cafe Bebe, where you'll be able to see all the vlogs (and in conjunction with Notes from Lapland - well, she has to find something to do in all those hours of winter darkness).

So here is my vlog. It may quite possibly be my last as well as my first, so make the most of it. It's rather long, and I'm thinking it'll probably be excluded from the competition on those grounds, but I thought I'd publish it anyway. I could re-do it, and make it snappier, but let's just say, this wasn't exactly the first attempt (some of the others ended with an expletive).

Ladies and Gentlemen,

For your delectation and delight... (and I apologise for the bit where I sound very patronising to Americans - I was trying to be jokey)

Iota vlogs!

  1. That's so fun, I haven't even thought about attempting vlogging. Love the Barbie and Ken bit at the end - please tell me Ken gets a glass of wine after his vegetable juice? And do you always look that fabulous when your husband arrives home from work?!

  2. I love your vlog! And it's so nice to put a voice to a name (you have a lovely voice by the way...). I think you did really well, I would have no idea how to make one.....

I used to do the juice thing when I was pregnant - including the lime and ginger ones - but have now regressed back to wine.....they do taste good though.

  4. Oh I loved that.Here's what I loved:

    A) your voice. You sound so utterly serene
    B) the fact that the grindy green bit in the middle of the juice looked very much like a close up of a weird S&M dildo up close
    C) the fact that apparently I do have a juvenile sense of humour and found the vege poops coming out of the machine very good value
    D) the fact that the juice looks like sewage water and in no way appealing yet you sold it to me
    E) the fact that Ken seemed to fondle Barbie at the end in a way that suggests you two might still actually be having sex, which is always nice for married couples I feel.

Marvellous. I shall buy a juicer forthwith.

  5. yes, I can imagine he can't wait to get home each evening for his turnip tipple & veggie quiz;o) ;o) i'm glad to see you dress for dinner too...
we limit our wine consumption to w/es (quite easy to do given the choice here...) But I AM partial to gin, which of course has juniper berries in it, so, very healthy.
What happens to the contorted, mangled veg? compost heap?

  8. My dear Iota...
This is fab! You are doing so well and you had me laughing out loud which is always a good thing. I'm impressed with your evening wear when your hubby comes home from a hard day at the office! As it's our first Just Vlog It challenge, I think we'll allow for the time over-run. We might have to tighten up for future runs though!

I'm honoured you chose to grace our Just Vlog It challenge with your lovely presence. Thanks so much...we'll be in touch! ;)

PS- Where in the Midwest are you? I'm originally from Wisconsin (Eau Claire to be specific). ;)

  9. Is that a pig flying past my window? I never thought I'd see the words Iota and Vlogs written in close proximity.

Love the evening wear to greet shadowy though. No one can say you don't make an effort! x

  10. **giggles**
So nice and yet somehow so frustrating to hear your voice and not see your face! A few thoughts:

    (1) So, celery leaves are not poisonous then, as I was brought up to believe? Not that I have heard from you since you fed this concoction to Shadowy Ken...

    (2) we have nor heard much about your hair recently so I was interested to see that is no longer wiry but long and wavy and somehow almost plastic-y in texture. Shad. Ken's grew back well too, though seemed a little less, I don't know, L'Oreal.

    (3) your assembly of the juicer reminded me of a game we played on holiday in Yorkshire when dd was a baby, (in fact just days after we had a fabulous few days with great mates in Scotland.) It was called "assemble an Avent breast pump in the dark" - we had 2 mothers of tiny babies and another then-non-mum and 2 dads and a then-non-dad. Hilarious.

Lastly, your godson has just been roaring with laughter as I feed strawberries to Milligan.

Am half way through a long email to you.

    Love
    Josephine xxx

  11. I loved your vlog. And I'm so pleased I watched it because now I know how to use up all those leaves and stalks in my organic vegetable box. Do I need to wash the mud off first or will that just add to the earthy, organic healthiness of the juice?

Also, I hope you wore that dress to the Oscars parties.

Really, your vlog was lovely and you did an amazing job!

  13. Yes, I agree - could listen to you all day. Get yourself down the Shopping Channel and ask for a job!

  14. That was fantastic. Did you have a script or can you just whitter on ad infinitum? Very impressed. I would've been going "erm" and "you know" all the way through.
Am I bad that I give my kids V8 Light though?

  15. tom and i just watched that with absolute fascination! we love you! and yes, ginger is a good ingredient.

tom thinks the song you were singing is 'love fool' by the cardigans... ???

    ReplyDelete
  16. tom just wants to clarify: the tune you were singing was love fool but you made up the lyrics

  17. I have (got a very childish sense of humour) and I did... thank-you!

  19. Fantastic vlog Iota!!! And great comments too. I am a bit miffed that I just sold my juicer on Sunday (after it had sat in my kitchen cupboard for nearly a year untouched). You would have spurred me onto to resume my juicing activities.

So nice to hear your voice too. You sound so British!! (Is it so very wrong that I am surprised?!)

I think if I did a vlog it would just be my nightly wine tasting..."so what are the ingredients of this wine tonight then Nicola...er, grapes I believe" chortle chortle xx

  22. Wow, loved your vlog! The Teenager also enjoyed watching it with me, which, considering her current nano-second attention span was pretty impressive.
